David is a partner in leading Essex solicitors, Birkett Long, who have offices in Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon, and clients across the length and breadth of Essex, the eastern region, the UK and, indeed, internationally. He is recognised as a leading Commercial Real Estate lawyer, specialising in development and investment work, but also handling secured lending and lease work. Since the late 1980’s David has had a specialism in Environment and Energy matters, and is passionate about sustainability and resilience, not only advising clients but also speaking widely on the subject matter. Married with an 8 year old daughter who keeps him on his toes, David is a keen hill walker and amateur operatic soloist - not at the same time! – and follows both rugby and cricket with enthusiasm, as well as his former sport of rowing. David currently Chairs the Chelmsford Business Board and has been a Strategic Board member of SELEP.
