Richard Davidson

Success Essex Board Member | Willmott Dixon Construction

Richard studied Civil Engineering at Loughborough University and has been working in the construction sector for over 20 years. In this time he has worked on a wide variety of projects at all stages in both the public and private sectors and has been a Director at Willmott Dixon Construction since 2017. Leading on all early procurement, business development and customer engagement activities, Richard is adept at identifying customer needs, creating collaborative teams and delivering maximum benefit to all. He has been at the forefront on the adoption and embedment of sustainable development within the business; his earliest success came in 2010 when managing the design and delivery of a zero carbon school in Islington. Since then he has worked hard to ensure lessons learnt are shared widely within the business and sector. He continues to promote a sharing and learning approach to all he does and it is this sense of purpose that brought Richard to the SUCCESS ESSEX board. He is excited to see how greater links and knowledge sharing can be fostered between the public and private sectors. With a great deal of experience delivering projects for local authorities in framework arrangements Richard is fully aware of both the positive outcomes that are achievable and the constraints that can prevent this collaboration. Alongside delivering large scale change, Richard understands that the small simple changes are just as important to deliver sustainable growth, prosperity and productivity; his own experience in delivering change within large organisations has prepared him for this challenge. Richard is married with 2 primary school aged children, he is a regular runner and cyclist and enjoys family holidays exploring the great British landscape.
