14 Essex schemes approved for funding!

The final list of approved projects that will receive funding from SELEP have been announced. 34 projects have been approved and will deliver 9167 jobs, 7234 home, 50000 square feet of commercial space and 8663 new learners.

The funding was awarded to SELEP from the government as part of a new scheme announced. A £900 million Getting Building Fund to deliver jobs, homes and infrastructure across the country. SELEP were awarded £85 million from this fund to help the LEP region, the largest amount awarded to any of the LEPs.The Fund is for ‘shovel-ready’ schemes, projects that could be delivered within the next 18 months.  

Essex have secured £26 million from this fund for 14 projects to help Essex bounce back from COVID-19. The projects will create 2800 jobs, 4000 learners and 20,500 sqft of commercial space. The full list of projects can be found here.

Before submitting the project list to SELEP, the board evaluated the list of projects. The board ensured the projects met our missions, government guidelines, the aim for the funds and Essex wide priorities. Board Chair Dr Miles Adcock said "We're glad 14 great projects were approved by SELEP. They will be a boost to the Essex economy in light of the COVID pandemic. This has been a great start for the board, the 14 projects approved will help shape the Essex economy, support Essex businesses and aid recovery."As a business led board we want to make sure projects are targeted around business needs, growth and innovation. The board have prioritiesed projects that will target the areas and sectors most impacted by COVID-19.
