Essex Digital Awards 2017

Last night (Thursday 18th May) the Essex Digital Awards (EDA17) brought digital innovators together from across the region for a spectacular awards event. This annual awards evening celebrated bright, local talent that is using its digital skills to make businesses and websites stand out.

Over fifteen categories awarded the very best in blogging, web and app development and marketing from a total of 99 hopeful finalists.

Along with names such as Heart Essex, Essex Chamber of Commerce, Superfast Essex and Department For International Trade, we were proud to sponsor the evening and host our own award which put the spotlight on some of Essex's students.

The Future of Essex Award, developed in 2015, recognised the hard work of some exceptional students in Essex and their involvement in our Education and Industry STEM programme. Three finalists were selected for this award: Nathan Banks from the Gilberd School, Rebecca Jilks from the Boswells School and Ross Aylen from Tendring Technology College.

As each student demonstrated excellence in their STEM-related activities, all three won an award on the night. Rebecca and Ross both received the silver award and Nathan was selected as the gold award winner for the evening.

Nathan's teachers commented in their submission that: "As student of GCSE Electronics and Computer Science, Nathan has committed himself to STEM club and his independent projects. He is a conscientious student who is very humble and willing to support other students not only talking and helping them with his passion but also in his entity as a senior mentor."
