Working in Mercury Theatre

This October, Mercury Theatre Colchester, are giving young creatives the opportunity to undergo a week's worth of work experience to get some critical insight into the creative industry and the operations of a theatre.

Supported by Colchester Borough Council and Arts Council England, as well as our own Education & Industry STEM Programme and CEC Enterprise Advisor Network, the theatre will be providing work experience to 14-18 year olds for one week over the October school half-term (Monday 23rd October - Friday 27th October).

Beginning at 10am and finishing at 4pm each day, attendees will learn a variety of roles that are required to create a Christmas pantomime production, from local professionals in:

  • Wardrobe department
  • Marketing department
  • Scenic construction team
  • Lighting and sound teams
  • Audience services team

The placements are available for £50 per child for the entire week and attendees do not need to have had any formal training, experience or qualifications - an enthusiasm for working in this industry is sufficient.

Places are limited, so to make sure your place is secure, visit Mercury Theatre's website, call: 01206 573948 or visit their Box Office at Mercury Theatre, Balkerne Gate, Colchester, CO1 1PT
