Health and Social Care Conference

Health and Social Care Event

On Wednesday 28th of March, in partnership with Lydia Wynne-Jones of the Britten Partnership, we were delighted to deliver our ‘Health and Social Care Conference’ for students in Essex.

The event was successful in highlighting some of the organisations students might find themselves working for in years to come, some of the specific careers they may decide to take up and the Health and Social Care (H&S)-related courses available at local Universities and Colleges.

Hosted at the University of Essex’ Lecture Theatre Building (at the Colchester campus), the day saw a range of organisations delivering workshops and exhibiting in our marketplace, giving students fantastic insight into the sector. Medical Mavericks (a regular supporter of the ESB’s Education and Industry STEM Programme) delivered one of our workshops, alongside Addenbrooks Hospital (Health Science Careers), the University of Essex (Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy), Outlook Care (Adult Social Care Careers) and Anglia Ruskin University (Paramedic Science).

We’re incredibly grateful to the following organisations for agreeing to be part of the day:

Addenbrooks Hospital                                                   Thurrock CCG

University of Essex                                                        Colchester Hospital

Outlook Care                                                                   EPUT

Medical Mavericks                                                          InterAct

Anglia Ruskin University                                               Home-Start

East of England Ambulance Service                            Primary Care

Colchester Institute                                                        Age UK

Essex County Council

Students from Billericay School, Chelmsford College, Thomas Lord Audley School and The Bury Trust came along on the day and our post-event evaluation showed that 96% of attendees felt they had a better understanding of the Health and Social Care sector – a fantastic result, all thanks to our exhibitors and workshop leaders on the day! A huge thank you to all of the students and teaching staff that came along.

We’re going to be working with Lydia again in 2018-19 to deliver more of these amazing days across the County so keep an eye on the ESB website for news as we confirm dates and venues. Thanks to the success of our recent Finance Sector Recruitment Event, we’re also going to be adding a similar session at the end of each conference next year, so if you’re looking for (H&S)-related jobs, come along in 2018-19!
