The ESB are pleased to announce the launch of our Finance and Insurance sector action group.

Earlier this year, the Board identified the growing challengs facing the Finance and Insurance sector as well as the growth and employment potential this important sector offers Essex residents. As such Finance and Insurance Services has now been made a priority sector of the Board.

The first meeting of the Finance and Insurance Services Sector Action Group will take place on Tuesday 31st January 2017 from 9.30am to 12.00pm and will be hosted by Adele Carnera (IFDS/ESB Sector Lead) at IFDS House, St Nicholas Lane, Basildon, SS15 5FS.

The meeting will provide the opportunity for industry colleagues to discuss views and experiences of the skills shortages and needs in the Sector.  The group will have the opportunity to shape the work of the Board to truly reflect and address the sectors needs. The objective of the Sector Action Group is to discuss the skills challenges that are faced by the sector and to generate ideas in order to address these issues across Essex.

Finance and insurance services businesses rely on intelligent, flexible and commercially minded staff, which in many cases have been trained internally but often, need to work globally from an Essex base.

Essex is home to a wide range of businesses within the sector, ranging from asset management, to retail banking, payments and accountancy. Businesses include multi nationals and local family owned companies. The sector both prospers and suffers from its close proximity to London and the City. This forum gives industry the opportunity to talk frankly about the challenges it faces and to collectively identify solutions to make the sector and Essex the career and location of choice.

We believe we can make real progress but we need industry support to achieve this. To confirm your attendance at this meeting, please respond to this email or alternatively email elizabeth.gray@essex.gov.uk If you are unable to attend or would like to nominate a colleague to attend on behalf of your organisation, please reply to the email address above and we can send them an invite.
