WYT Careers Information Booklets 2017-18

Our 'What's Your Thing?' careers information booklets are making a comeback for the new cohort of year 9 students in Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.

Last year, we delivered 20,000 information guides to every year nine student, allowing them to become inspired about some of the local career opportunities that will be available to them in the coming future and this year the booklets will be receiving a big update to accommodate the new data collected from our Skills Evidence Base.

Contained in the booklet is information on the ESB's seven priority sectors, covering: key job vacancy data, in-demand skills, job role descriptions, salary information and some important facts about each sector. Also included in this year's booklet is a guide explaining the some of the differences between A-Levels and Apprenticeships.

With many students preparing to choose their GCSE options in year 9, these careers booklets will allow students to make informed decisions as to how they prepare themselves for the future. Beyond this, the booklets will help to break some common misperceptions around the priority sectors covered in the booklet. These are listed on our website.

Supported by additional careers teaching resources, each school will also be receiving a set of 50 copies to be used in any careers information and guidance activities that they may conduct over the course of the year.

£500 grant available to winning school

We will be running two competitions based on returned feedback from the booklets. While one lucky student will win a £50 Amazon Gift Voucher, schools will also be submitted into a prize draw where the winner will receive a £500 grant for schools equipment, books or other supplies.
