Get Involved with the E&I STEM Programme in 2017-18

We’re very excited to begin putting together our calendar of events for the 2017/18 academic year, ready to be published here on the ESB website as part of the call to industry representatives and schools alike to get involved in next year’s Education and Industry STEM Programme.

We’ve been speaking to Employers, Colleges and Universities throughout the county, establishing our shared aims and objectives for 2017/18, with a view to agreeing jointly-staged, key sector-related events and projects for young people across Essex.

We’re delighted to have agreed our first dates in Basildon (in partnership with PROCAT College) and in Harlow (with Harlow College), as well as the launch event for next year’s Colchester Zoo Engineering Project, and we would now like to invite individuals and companies to come and be part of these exciting events to promote their organisation to their potential future workforce, and even actively recruit young people as they approach school-leaving age.

Via the Essex Employment and Skills Board’s ‘Sector Action Groups’ we’ve heard stories of employers finding it difficult to recruit young people from local schools with the relevant skills – well now companies have the chance to meet keen, talented and committed young people, work with them in industry-led workshops and identify particular talent, and then set them on a path towards Apprenticeship and other entry-level jobs with the organisation.

We will be inviting students from secondary schools local to the event, years 7 to 9 to our events aimed simply at inspiring students into key sector careers and years 10 to 13 for those that are geared more specifically towards recruitment.
