Tutors gain insights into industry through CPD

This June, our Tutor Continued Professional Development (CPD) week saw a big return. Overall, more than fifteen FE College tutors attended a day event held by Konica Minolta, Ford UK and Raytheon UK in order to gain valuable insight into their respective industries.

Whilst tutors are working hard to provide their students with a solid skillset, local employers have informed that there still are not enough people with specialised skills entering priority sectors (identified by the Board). In order to tackle this barrier, this CPD event will provide tutors with an understanding of how to better teach their students in alignment with local employer need – creating stronger career opportunities. Tutors were taken on-site to each leading company which allowed them to explore the wide range of opportunities within the sector, and gain an understanding of how to shape their education provision to be the link for students towards a fulfilling career.
