Experience in Health

Here at the Essex Education and Industry STEM Programme, we love hearing from students that have come along in the past to our key sector taster events or been part of our yearly projects and, now that they're in year 10, are looking to continue to develop their interest in careers in key local industry sectors by sourcing a relevant work experience placement with some of our amazing Essex firms. Over the last two weeks, we've been contacted by students S, C and K who are working hard to secure something for March 2019 and asked if we could help to spread the word. We're delighted to help out and, at the same time, highlight how our fantastic Essex students are benefiting from the E&I STEM Programme, in terms of bolstering their already impressive CV's! If you think your organisation can help out these brilliant students, get in touch at james.wilkinson@essex.gov.uk!

'S' lives in Colchester and is looking for something within commutable distance relating to Physics (her favourite subject), Aerospace or other Engineering or Cyber Security. S has attended our Royal Institution Computer Science Masterclasses and been part of the school's successful Colchester Zoo Engineering Project team. S has taken part in various competitions, including the UK Bebras Challenge at which she scored so highly that she was then invited to take part in the TCS Oxford Computing Challenge. She's been a member of the School Council since year 7 and has been elected as Chairman this year. S speaks Hindi and Bengali and is a talented musician to boot!

'K' lives in Colchester and is looking for something relating to Software Development or wider coding/programming, or something in or related to Health Science. K attended our Royal Institution Computer Science Masterclasses at the University of Essex in year 9. He's also been part of various national competitions and was delighted to be awarded a Bronze Certificate in the UK Junior Maths Challenge and a Certificate of Distinction for his achievement in the UK Bebras Challenge. K is a keen boxer too.

'C' also lives in Colchester and is looking for something in the field of Electronic Engineering. C also attended our Royal Institution Computer Science Masterclasses - attending sessions relating to Cloud Robotics, Games Design and Astrophotography, amongst other things - and received an award from his school for academic excellence in English, Science and Electronics. C is a member of the Army Cadet Force too!

If you can help any one of these amazing young people out, with anything from a couple of days to a whole week of work experience in March 2019, drop us a line and we'll put the candidate(s) in touch with you.

We hope that employers out there are seeing lots of CV's from young people that highlight key sector career-focused events and projects that they've attended thanks to the ESB's E&I STEM Programme!
