Talking to Health Professionals

The Essex Education and Industry STEM Programme team were delighted to work with Dr. Priya Pavan at Billericay School to put on a fantastic Healthcare Speed Networking event for students and their parents, after school on the 6th of February.

The event gave pupils and parents the opportunity to sit down and talk to a range of industry professionals about their role and routes into it, via University, College and Sixth Form. We were overwhelmed by the level of support provided by Health professionals and academic institutions on the night, facilitated by the partnership and support of the South West Essex Community Education Provider Network (CEPN),  with exhibitors including Anglia Ruskin University’s Medical Science faculty and King’s College London , and staff from Essex Partnership University Foundation Trust (EPUT), Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals (BTUH),  Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group, Primary Care and North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT). Students got the opportunity to speak to Nurses, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Speech and Language Therapists and Mental Health Practitioners, amongst others!

Feedback from those attending was fantastic, with students not only reporting their surprise at the range of professions available within Health, but also an improved understanding of routes into the sector.

We would like to thank each and every one of our exhibitors for taking the time to come along and talk to young people, Dr. Pavan and Billericay School for hosting the event and helping to make the evening an enjoyable and rewarding occasion and of course students and their families for joining us!
